Even though President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden are still battling over the 2020 election, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg could be considered winners in their own way.

Four years after foreign actors worked to influence the results of the presidential election, Big Tech companies have worked to implement new policies aimed at combatting the spread of misinformation. 

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that he was "not aware" that a Facebook election integrity official used to work as a policy adviser to former Vice President Joe Biden during the Senate Commerce Committee's Section 230 hearing on Wednesday.

Section 230 is a key provision under the Communications Decency Act, which shields online companies from being held liable for the content their users create. 

Facebook's Voting Information Center surpassed its goal to register at least 4 million people before Election Day.

Federal Trade Commission staff members are recommending that the agency bring an antitrust case against Facebook Inc., according to people familiar with the matter, but commissioners haven’t yet reached a decision.

The hyper-vigilance follows accusations that the platform and its rivals were exploited in previous elections, the 2016 presidential race in particular.

Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., sent a letter to the Department of Justice on Wednesday, asking the attorney general to look into accusations of censorship by Twitter and Facebook, after the big tech giants took steps to limit the exposure of a New York Post article critical of Hunter Biden.  

The additional funds will support the Center for Tech and Civic Life to help ensure that "every jurisdiction that needs funding to help people vote safely can get it." 

Facebook has been accused of “shirking” its responsibility to remove pages and accounts belonging to those who coordinated and recruited others for what resulted in deadly shootings in Kenosha, Wis., at the end of August.

Zuckerberg said the guidelines would help to ensure that employees, especially the company’s Black community, felt supported.

The incident surfaced as Facebook faces widespread scrutiny over its handling of social justice issues.

The social media company said it had removed the page for the Kenosha Guard.
