Why Christie Brinkley’s Brand is Thriving at 61
Christie Brinkley made her mark in 1979 when she landed the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and then shot to fame when she graced the magazine’s cover for three consecutive years—a major victory in the modeling world.
Now, at the age of 61, she’s back on the cover of her new book, “Timeless Beauty,” where she shares her secrets to staying young and looking great.
“Thirty years ago, it was a lot easier to get out the door. At 61, there are a few more tips that you kind of need,” Brinkley tells FOXBusiness.com.
The former Cover Girl says she did whatever it took to be thin during her modeling days.
“I practically did the ‘water only’ diet. Until one day, I literally passed out in a ladies' room in Paris,” she says.

That wake-up call urged her to become healthier instead of depriving herself. And, she wants to encourage her readers to do the same thing.
“I’m a big proponent of eating organic foods and I know that it’s sometimes challenging to people because it’s a little more expensive but the cost has gone down significantly,” she adds.
In addition to her book, Brinkley also has a new skincare line called Christie Brinkley Authentic.
“I’m very excited about my skincare line right now which has been based on what I’ve been doing right,” she says.
Brinkley says she plans on expanding her skincare line and eventually getting into makeup.
“Once I’ve rounded out all the skincare line, I want to go into color like foundations and lipsticks.”
Brinkley, who is no stranger to endorsements, already has a hair extension line called Hair2Wear, an eyewear brand, and has been the popular face behind the Total Gym for past 20 years.
“I believe that my longevity in my career is due to the fact that I’m very careful about what I endorse. I really want to believe in the products that I put my name on or that I say that I think you’re going to love. And I think the fact that I’ve been picky and choosey and people know that they can trust what I say -- it’s been the thing that has allowed me to continue to work in this industry,” she says.
