YouTube headquarters shooter was a woman; 4 injured

A shooting at YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno, California, left three people hospitalized with gunshot-related injuries and a female suspect dead of what authorities said was believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The woman who opened fire, was identified by authorities as Nasim Aghdam, the Associated Press reported, citing two law enforcement officials.

Eyewitnesses told KTVU that the suspect shot her boyfriend before killing herself, though authorities have yet to address the motive behind the shooting. Three shooting victims were transported to San Francisco General Hospital, including a 36-year-old man in critical condition.

A fourth person suffered an ankle injury.

Google, the parent company of YouTube, said company officials “continue to actively coordinate with local authorities and hospitals.” YouTube employees at the scene were evacuated, and others are being urged to stay away from the scene.

The FBI’s San Francisco bureau and the California Highway Patrol are assisting in the investigation, officials confirmed. San Bruno police remain the lead agency.

President Donald Trump addressed the shooting on Twitter, expressing condolences and thanking first responders for their efforts.

“Was just briefed on the shooting at YouTube’s HQ in San Bruno, California,” Trump said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with everybody involved. Thank you to our phenomenal Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders that are currently on the scene.”
