Futures at a glance

U.S. equity futures were lower a day after the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time since 2018.

The rate liftoff, which puts the benchmark federal funds rate at a range between 0.25% and 0.5%, is likely just the start of a series of increases intended to curb runaway inflation.

Meanwhile, oil prices climbed on supply concerns.

Gas prices slide

The average price for a gallon of gasoline in the U.S. slipped on Thursday to $4.289, according to the latest numbers from AAA. The price on Wednesday was $4.305. The previous record was $4.33, set on Friday March 11, 2022.
