California Widens Volkswagen Probe, Asks For Plan In 45 Days | Fox Business

California's Air Resources Board on Wednesday told Volkswagen AG and Volkswagen's Audi and Porsche units to submit a recall plan in 45 days to repair illegal emissions software installed in the company's 3-liter diesel vehicles model years 2009 to 2015 sold in California. The action "is the result of an admission by officials at Audi A.G., manufacturer of all the engines involved, that the vehicles contain three undisclosed auxiliary emissions control devices," the agency said in a letter to Volkswagen. The state's Air Resources Board has determined that all such vehicles are out of compliance with California clean-air standards, the letter said. Volkswagen has admitted it used illegal software in millions of mostly diesel cars to skirt emissions standards, and said it would give details on its own investigation of the scandal next month.
