Chemours names 8 board members following its planned spinoff from DuPont
The Chemours Co., the company to be created by the spinoff of Dupont's Performance Chemicals unit, has named the eight members of its board of directors.
The spinoff is expected to occur July 1.
Richard Brown will be chairman of the board. He is a former CEO of Electronic Data Systems and H&R Block Inc. Merk Vergnano, who will be president and CEO of Chemours, will also have a seat on the board of directors.
Other members of the board are to include Curtis Anastasio, Bradley Bell, Mary Cranston, Curtis Crawford, Dawn Farrell and Stephen Newlin.
Last Wednesday, Dupont shareholders flatly rejected a contentious campaign by Nelson Peltz and his Trian Fund Management L.P for seats on the board of the 212-year-old company. That fight led DuPont to move up its public relations campaign about the upcoming spinoff of Chemours.
