Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy Fired: Report

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has fired the city's police chief, Michael Sneed of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, who previously headed the police department of Newark, N.J., is described by Sneed as having been "shellshocked" by the news, which came on the heels of the public release of a video showing a police officer shooting a black teen 16 times. The officer has been charged with murder. The city previously had moved to significantly expand the use of police body cameras.
