DirecTV Profit And Revenue Miss Estimates
DirecTV said Tuesday it had net income of $730 million, or $1.44 a share, in the first quarter, up from $561 million, or $1.09 a share, in the year-earlier period. The digital TV company said revenue rose 4% to $8.14 billion. The FactSet consensus was for EPS of $1.54 and revenue of $8.155 billion. The company said it added 279,000 net new subscribers in the quarter, while DirecTV U.S. added 60,000 new customers, and enjoyed its lowest first-quarter monthly churn rate in six years at 1.37%. Shares were not yet active in premarket trade, but have gained about 4% in the year so far, while the S&P 500 is up 2.7%.
