Dreamworks Surges On Better-than-expected Quarterly Results

DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. shares soared in Thursday's extended session after the film studio turned in quarterly results that beat expectations. Dreamworks reported a third-quarter loss of $4.04 million, or 4 cents a share, compared with a profit of $11.9 million, or 14 cents a share, a year ago. On an adjusted basis, the company would have earned 2 cents a share, better than the loss of 9 cents a share forecast by analysts in a FactSet survey. Revenue rose to $259.2 million from $180.9 million. Analysts had projected $201 million. Shares of Dreamworks surged 15% in after-hours trading.
