Favre Sponsors Not Spooked by NFL Fine
Despite being fined $50,000 by the NFL for not cooperating in the investigation over whether he sent inappropriate text messages to a New York Jets game-day hostess, Brett Favre’s sponsors are standing by his side.
Lawn-mower maker Snapper, a unit of Briggs & Stratton (NYSE:BGG), as well as Wrangler jeans, said they are still in contact with the 41-year-old Minnesota Vikings quarterback, according to the Associated Press.
Snapper continues to sport Favre on its homepage and notes under one ad that the three-time MVP is a "spokesperson for Snapper Lawn Care Products."
Favre was hit by the fine Wednesday for failing to cooperate in the NFL investigation that sought to determine whether the football player violated the league’s personal conduct policy when he sent inappropriate text messages to game-day employee Jenn Sterger.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that based on available evidence he could not conclude that Favre violated league policies.
Favre was slapped with the fine for not cooperating with the investigation, Goodell said, which resulted in a “longer review and additional negative public attention” for the parties involved.
