Federal judge requests more information as trucking companies push fraud claims against Pilot

A federal judge has asked the truck-stop company owned by Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam to turn over more information as he reviews a motion to throw out lawsuits by several trucking companies claiming they were cheated by the retail giant.

U.S. District Judge Amul Thapar requested more details about what Pilot Flying J promised the trucking companies.

Thapar's request came Friday as attorneys wrangled over Pilot's motion asking the judge to dismiss the suits.

The trucking companies claim they were cheated out of fuel rebates and discounts promised by Pilot, the nation's largest diesel retailer.

Attorney Leonard Leicht, representing a couple of trucking companies, says the information will help calculate damages owed the plaintiffs.

Pilot attorney Glenn Kurtz disputed claims that Pilot committed fraud.
