Ferry strike blocks northern French port of Calais, briefly slows Eurotunnel traffic
A strike by workers in the northern French port of Calais has left all passenger ferry service between the city and the English city of Dover suspended and briefly slowed traffic in the Eurotunnel.
The MyFerryLink passenger service was canceled entirely Tuesday and the port warned that other traffic was slow. Striking ferry workers briefly blocked a ramp into the Eurotunnel, slowing traffic, before they were dispersed.
The ferry operator will stop passenger operations on July 2, and the workers union is protesting job cuts.
