LONDON Former News of the World editor Ian Edmondson has been sentenced to eight months in jail for his role in the phone hacking scandal that eventually led to the shutdown of the paper, according to British media on Friday. The sentence comes after Edmondson last month admitted to plotting to hack phones of public figures and celebrities, including musician Paul McCartney and actors Jude Law and Sienna Miller, according to the BBC. Edmondson is the eighth person to be convicted in relation to the hacking scandal. News of the World was owned by News Corp., who is also the owner of MarketWatch, the publisher of this report.
