Four Players Elected To Baseball Hall Of Fame
For the first time since 1955, the Baseball Writers Association of America has elected four players to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, ESPN reported Tuesday. Those players are Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio. This is only the fourth time in history that at least four players were selected via the association's vote. Johnson pitched during 22 seasons in Major League Baseball and, as a player on the Arizona Diamondbacks, was co-MVP of the 2001 World Series. Martinez, who won a World Series with the Red Sox in 2004, played during 18 seasons. Smoltz, a two-time All-Star, was best known as a pitcher for the Atlanta Braves. Biggio was an all-around position player who spent his entire career with the Houston Astros. The four players will be inducted during a ceremony on July 26.
