France's president wants business leaders to get more involved in curbing climate change

French President Francois Hollande is calling on business leaders to get more involved in fighting global warming by financing climate-friendly projects and investing in green technologies.

France is to host the U.N. Climate Change Conference in December.

Hollande stressed Wednesday that an agreement between 196 countries in Paris would have "extremely positive consequences on economic actors, technologies of the future, employment and growth."

"You must make commitments, provide us answers, and the success will also be yours," he said at a Business and Climate summit at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

He also recalled that governments agreed at the 2009 summit in Copenhagen to seek a total of $100 billion from public and private investors to help poor countries tackling climate change.
