Fund supported by Detroit auto show charity preview awards more than $4.2M over 15 years

The Detroit Auto Dealers Association Charitable Foundation Fund has awarded more than $4.2 million in grants over the past 15 years.

The fund is among the beneficiaries of Friday's annual charity preview of the North American International Auto Show. The latest grants total $245,000.

Recipients include LACASA, which got $50,000; the Midnight Golf Program and SOS Community Services, which are getting $30,000 each; and Focus: HOPE, Neutral Zone and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, which were awarded $25,000 each.

The Charitable Foundation Fund was established at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan to offer grants for nonprofits that serve children. About $200,000 is given out each year to arts, education, recreation, health and other programs.

The auto show opens Saturday to the public.
