Group on worldwide mission to save lives, prevent disease with recycled hotel soap
Shawn Seipler is on a mission to save lives with soap.
It began about seven years ago as a tiny operation in a Florida garage and has since grown to include industrial recycling facilities in Las Vegas, Orlando and Hong Kong, cities where hotels are plentiful and used bars of soap can be gathered easily by the thousands.
The non-profit Clean the World now distributes millions of recycled bars of soap left over from more than 4,000 hotels to nearly 100 countries where hygiene products aren't readily available and lack of hand-washing leads to thousands of preventable deaths a year.
Clean the World this week announced it was partnering with the similar Global Soap organization to increase production, hygiene education and delivery.
