IMF: Greece Plans To Bundle June Payments At End Of Month
Greece has told the International Monetary Fund it intends to combine four debt payments due in June into a single payment at the end of the month, the IMF said on Thursday. "The Greek authorities have informed the Fund today that they plan to bundle the country's four June payments into one, which is now due on June 30," said IMF chief spokesman Gerry Rice, in an emailed statement. IMF rules allow members to ask to bundle together multiple principal payments that fall due in a calendar month, the IMF said. Greece faces a total of around 1.5 billion euros in IMF repayments this month, including a 303.3 million euro repayment that was due Friday. U.S. stocks weakened after the news, falling to fresh session lows. (Updates to clarify total monthly payments owed by Greece.)
