Know Before the Bell: Google's Healthy Body, Samsung's Giant TV
Facebook’s (NASDAQ:FB) stock gets a boost after earnings, and Samsung unveils a 105-inch television.
Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) unveiled what it calls a “baseline study” to collect anonymous genetic and molecular information from 175 people, and later, thousands more. The idea is to create what Google hopes will be the fullest picture of what a healthy human being should be.
Google will use its computing power to analyze the info and find patterns, called biomarkers. The hope is that these biomarkers can be used to detect any disease a lot earlier.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is about to make a sizable deposit to his bank account. The social media giant reported a big jump in mobile advertising. The report sparked a rally for Facebook shares, increasing Zuckerberg’s worth by $2.2 billion.
Samsung is offering a 105-inch TV that boasts a curved display and four times the resolution of a standard high-definition TV. Plus, it’s a smart TV that connects to the Internet. It will cost $120,000.
