Mason residents express concern over proposed natural gas pipeline

Some residents of the New Hampshire town of Mason say they feel singled out by a proposed natural gas pipeline project that would cross the town twice over.

They raised objections at a public meeting Tuesday night.

Texas-based Kinder Morgan wants to construct about 70 miles of pipeline through southern New Hampshire. About 90 percent of the project would be along an existing power line corridor.

WMUR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1xE53YY) the pipeline would cross Mason from west to east, along with a lateral juncture heading into Massachusetts.

Some people are worried about water. The project would require blasting to bury a 36-inch gas line in a town that relies 100 percent on wells for its water.
