Nasdaq Closes At Record, Stocks Finish Slightly Higher After Comey Testimony
The tech-heavy Nasdaq finished at a record Thursday as other benchmarks closed slightly higher following former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey's testimony in front of senators and ahead of U.K. election results. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 24.38 points, or 0.4%, at a record 6,321.76, led by big gains in Yahoo Inc. , Nvidia Corp. and Tesla Inc. . The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished up 8.84 points at 21,182.53, with shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Caterpillar Inc. the biggest gainers and Walt Disney Co. and Merck & Co. the biggest decliners. The S&P 500 index finished up 0.65 points at 2,433.79, with the financials and tech sectors leading and the utilities and consumer-staples sectors lagging.
