Pfizer, Allergan Tie-up Sends 2015 M&A Tally To Record

News that Pfizer Inc. and Allergan Plc have agreed to combine in a $155 billion deal has pushed the year's total mergers & acquisitions tally to a fresh record, exceeding the previous record set in 2007, according to Mergermarket. The total value of M&A deals for the year now stands at $3.82 trillion, 4.3% above the 2007 high, according to Mergermarket data. Deal value is about 17% above 2014's tally, the data showed. Five sectors have set fresh records for the year, with pharma, medical & biotech leading the charge at $554.3 billion. That's followed by consumer, at $463.6 billion, technology, at $386.5 billion, business services, at $212.1 billion and real estate at $208.1 billion.
