Singer Jenni Rivera's company, families of those killed in plane crash, may settle lawsuit
Attorneys for singer Jenni Rivera's company and relatives of some of those killed alongside her in a plane crash say they are trying to settle a lawsuit against the late Mexican-American superstar's company.
Attorney Steven Archer represents the families of Rivera's lawyer, hairstylist, makeup artist and publicist. He told a Los Angeles judge on Tuesday that he was attempting to resolve the lawsuit against Jenni Rivera Enterprises Inc. and a company that performed maintenance on the plane.
Superior Court Judge Holly E. Kendig scheduled a Dec. 10 hearing for an update on settlement talks, or to schedule a trial in the case.
Anthony Lopez, an attorney for Rivera's company, confirmed settlement discussions are ongoing.
The 43-year-old Rivera's career was peaking when she and six others died in the northern Mexico crash.
