U.K. Election: Labour Doubts Exit Poll Showing Conservative Lead

Ed Miliband's Labour Party is unconvinced that the exit poll from the U.K. general election is an accurate reflection of the outcome, the party said Thursday night. "We are skeptical of the BBC poll. It looks wrong to us," a party spokesman said, according to the Guardian. The comment comes after the prediction put David Cameron's Conservative Party in the lead with 316 seats of the 650 possible, suggesting that the Tories could remain in power if the poll proves correct. Ahead of Thursday's election, the two main parties were neck-and-neck in the opinion polls, so the strong Conservative showing in the exit poll was seen as a big surprise. However, Labour is not alone in doubting the precision of the exit poll. Paddy Ashdown, former Liberal Democrat leader, told the BBC he would "publicly eat [his] hat" if the prediction turns out to be true.
