U.S. Stocks End Choppy Session Slightly Higher
U.S. stocks eked out modest gains on Monday as investors digested a mixed bag of economic reports, including data on consumer spending and manufacturing. Investors weighed how current data will influence the Federal Reserve's decision on when to begin raising interest rates, as policy makers focus on targeting inflation and unemployment rate. The S&P 500 closed 4.35 points, or 0.2%, higher at 2,111.74. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 29.69 points, or 0.2%, to 18,040.37. The Nasdaq Composite ended the session up 12.90 points, or 0.3%, at 5,082.93.
