Uber Updates App For Deaf And Hard-of-hearing Drivers

Ride-hailing company Uber announced updates to its app Thursday aimed at helping its deaf and hard-of-hearing drivers. The updates, currently being tested in four cities, give drivers text and light cues when a ride is requested, in addition to the audio, send texts from the riders rather than calls and has a prompt for riders to type their destination in the app. On its blog, Uber said the updates were made after conversations with drivers.
