UBS Paid $135 Million To Settle Currency-trading Lawsuit
UBS AG officials reported in a regulatory filing released Friday that the Swiss bank paid $135 million to settle civil litigation in the U.S. related to its currency-trading business. The U.S. Justice Department and other authorities are looking into whether the bank manipulated foreign-exchange rates. The bank is also being investigated by French authorities for allegedly helping citizens use bank accounts based in Switzerland to avoid paying taxes.
