Williams-Sonoma Shares Up 3% After Revenue, Earnings Beat
Shares of Williams-Sonoma Inc. rose more than 3% late Wednesday as the retailer beat first-quarter earnings and sales expectations. Williams-Sonoma said it earned $39.6 million, or 44 cents a share, in the quarter, compared with $44.8 million, or 48 cents a share, in the first quarter of 2015. Adjusted for one-time items, the retailer earned 53 cents a share. Revenue reached $1.1 billion in the quarter, up 6.5% from $1.03 billion a year ago. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected Williams-Sonoma to report earnings of 50 cents a share on sales of $1.08 billion. Shares had ended the regular trading session up 2.4%.
