Years after her death, Anna Nicole Smith loses final bid to get millions from husband's estate
Anna Nicole Smith's final bid to obtain her late husband's money has failed, seven years after her death.
A federal judge in Orange County on Monday rejected a bid by Smith's estate to obtain about $44 million from the estate of Texas billionaire J. Howard Marshall.
Local and federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, all rejected various attempts to overturn his will and trust and to obtain money from his estate.
The final challenge was rejected Monday. U.S. Judge David Carter denied a request from Smith's estate to sanction the estate of Marshall's son.
The judge says the case has been going on for nearly 20 years — five times the length of Smith's relationship with Marshall — and it's time to put it to rest.
