Varney: Europe is celebrating American success, why isn’t Congress?
'In our nation’s capital, [it's] an ugly display of backbiting politics'
While impeachment grips our nation’s capital on the world stage, America’s economic success is the talk of the town, FOX Business’ Stuart Varney argued in his latest “My Take.”
“The world is watching America, meanwhile, back home, in our nation’s capital, [is] an ugly display of backbiting politics as the left tries to take down and slime the President of the United States,” Varney said.

He pointed to the stark contrast between the positive story of success, power and prosperity and the negative story of a purely political attempt to overturn the 2016 presidential election.
“How do you think it looks around the world? Surprise, surprise, the media over there has focused much more on America’s economic resurgence,” Varney said.
TRUMP SAYS TARIFFS ON EUROPEAN CARS ARE STILL ON THE TABLE
America’s success helps Europe in a big way and the president’s economics bail them out of the doldrums, he argued. Europe has never seen anyone like President Trump before and is fascinated by him—in fact, they are warming to him, Varney added.
Voters in the United States witnesses a boring first day of the impeachment trial, he argued, and the process is set to continue for weeks. Far from being clamor to throw Trump out of office, Varney sees the opposite. From his perspective, the American people want the Senate to get impeachment finished quickly and to stop “dragging our country through the dirt.”
