College students rail NFL star Burgess Owens over conservative speech

Burgess Owens, a Super Bowl champion and conservative commentator, was shouted down by college students while giving a speech at Hobart and Williams Smith Colleges.

A video of the event showed one attendee accusing Owens of not knowing “what racism is,” and calling him the “tokenistic fallacy for Obama,” while another person declared the “United States is an imperialist nation."

But Owens told FOX Business that free speech needs to be welcome on college campuses.

“We are fighting for the heart and soul of our country today,” Owens told FOX Business’ Charles Payne on “Varney & Co.” “We have Judea-Christian values [that] allows us to be tolerant … open to ideas – then we have the Marxist and socialist that we see in this video that do not want to do that.”

Owens played 10 seasons in the NFL for the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders.
