Dr. Carson: We Need to go Ahead and Declare War on ISIS

In the wake of the terror attacks in Brussels, Belgium, former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson weighed in on what the U.S. can do to improve national security and reduce the risks of potential attacks within the U.S.

“Well, it’s not unexpected, obviously we know there is going to be continued attacks and one of the things the Europeans have done is really have a lax policy when it comes to people coming from Syria and other places where there are likely to be terrorists and I’m sure they have infiltrated,” Carson told the FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo.

Carson then weighed in on what the attacks mean for America.

“And you look at what’s going on in our country right now, we have a very, very weak border, particularly the southern border, but now we have to worry about the Canadian border as well.  And they are just coming in and I’m sure we have multiple terror cells and we can expect the same kind of thing.  We’re going to have to wake up very quickly here.  We’re going to have to stop being politically correct and start protecting the American people.”

Carson then discussed what should be done to improve U.S. national security.

“We need to secure our borders, stop just talking about it, we need to go ahead and do it.  I think we need to reevaluate our immigration policy.  One of the things I’ve talked about earlier is we need to go ahead and declare war on ISIS.  We need to do a much better job of surveilling their internet communications and follow them where they need to go, and act when we see something and not be afraid that someone is going to call us islamophobic. Those are the things that will make a real difference.”
