Nigel Farage: People Have Had Enough of Out of Touch Elites
Former U.K. Independence Party leader Nigel Farage says Hillary Clinton is taking a page out of former British Prime Minister David Cameron’s playbook when it comes to isolating a part of the country.
According to Farage, Cameron once called out U.K. voters as “loonies, fruitcakes and closet racists.” Clinton referred to Trump supporters as “deplorables” and racists while speaking at an LGBT event in New York on Friday.
“You could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it,” Clinton said.
During an interview with the FOX Business Network’s Varney & Co., Farage said he thinks Clinton is the only person that comes out deplorable by using such verbal tactics.
“[She is] part of that same kind of elite that I saw in London, but in this case based in Washington, who has absolutely no understanding how ordinary people live their lives.”
He believes a “political aristocracy” driven by the Clinton family, who he thinks is out of touch with the views of ordinary people, has taken over American politics.
“If they [Clintons] think by insulting the silent majority, they are doing themselves a favor by effectively demeaning people, by demonizing people, then they were in for a big shock in Brexit and I suspect she’s [Hillary] in for a big shock in this American campaign as well.”
Farage went on to say people are tired of being sneered at by out of touch political elites.
