Rick Perry Says He Will ‘Absolutely’ Consider Being Trump’s VP

In an interview on the FOX Business Network’s Mornings With Maria, former Texas Governor Rick Perry said he would “absolutely” take the call from presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to be his running mate.

“I would help Donald Trump no matter how. This is about my country; This isn’t about Donald Trump, is not about me,” Perry told host Maria Bartiromo. “I got in this race to begin with because I do love my country and I think I do have some things that I still want to give back.”

Perry, who originally supported U.S. Senator from Texas Ted Cruz, said the Republican Party needs to rally behind the presumptive nominee and thinks the American people need to pick a president who will fill the Supreme Court vacancy with a conservative constitutionalist.

“When I look at this and I see what our options are, is Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, and then all you need to think about is Supreme Court appointees. We know that the Scalia spot is gonna be filled very quickly and there is a real possibility there can be two more.”

The former presidential candidate added that anyone who truly cares about the future of this country should come together to help it move forward.

“This isn’t just about the next four or eight years, Maria. This is about the next 40 years and we better get this right.”

While Perry is open to serving as Trump’s vice president, many GOP elites remain divided over whether to support the billionaire businessman as their nominee or not.
