Varney: Democratic Party going into Iowa caucuses is nasty and unhappy

'They are terrified that an unelectable socialist will win their nomination'

Democrats are engaged in a “very nasty” and public fight, leaving their party a mess, FOX Business’ Stuart Varney argued in his latest “My Take.”

“They are terrified that an unelectable socialist will win their nomination. And in comes a multi-billionaire to buy the nomination of the party that is supposed to hate big money in politics. This disarray is surely unique in recent presidential politics,” Varney said.

The caucuses are intended to point towards a single nominee, but this year’s will not give the clarity the Democratic Party needs, Varney argued. Democrats have changed the rules and could end up with two winners, he added—a winner of the popular vote and a winner in terms of delegates.

Bernie Sanders’ surging poll numbers have created problems within the party, according to Varney. Hillary Clinton has said “nobody likes him” and John Kerry has been overheard saying that a Bernie win could tear apart the Democratic Party, he added.

“That is why they changed the rules for the next debate so Mike Bloomberg can get on the stage. Joe Biden doesn’t look good so they’ve turned to a multi-billionaire to be the great moderate hope,” Varney said.

Varney questioned Bloomberg’s status as a moderate, referring to the $60 billion man’s $5 trillion tax hike plan. He added that the party that hates big money it turning to a billionaire to buy them out of trouble.

“So here’s the Democrats: They’ve lost on impeachment, they’ve lost on prosperity, socialist leads their presidential ambitions—that’s reopened the split that hurt them in 2016—and they turn to the billionaire class who they’ve constantly reviled. It’s not a happy party,” Varney concluded.
