Will John Bolton be Trump's Pick for Secretary of State?
Former U.S. Ambassador to the UN John Bolton is reportedly being considered by President-elect Trump’s transition team for the Secretary of State post. Bolton said that for now, he is in wait-and-see mode.
‘Well actually I’m sort of old school about this, I think it is for the president elect to decide, which he will do in god’s good time and then we will see what happens to all of us,†Bolton told the FOX Business Network’s Lou Dobbs.
Bolton also said that in order take advantage of the incoming Republican-controlled House and Senate, Trump must put together a strong cabinet.
“I don’t think they are behind the pace or where they need to be at this point. I think we’ve had a lot of preliminary work done in the period before the election, which is unusual compared to prior transitions because of the federal funding. These decisions are particularly important and I honestly believe that Donald Trump should take as much time as he wants. We’ve got Republican control of the House and the Senate that is very significant, and getting these personnel decisions right is the most important thing … at this point. So let’s give him the time to sort it out and put his team together,†he said.
In addition to making strong picks, Bolton said the Trump transition team should focus on how those picks will work together.
“I think that it is important that [Trump] ends up with a team that can function together,†he said.
