Super Bowl LIV: Highest-paid players on Chiefs, 49ers
NFL stars earning big bucks
When the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs meet in Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, Feb. 2, the highest-paid players on the field won’t include the NFL’s reigning most valuable player.
While Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the NFL MVP honors for the 2018 season, he is still playing on his rookie contract. As a result, the star of Kansas City’s offense took home less than $2 million in cash for the 2019 season, which is a total that didn’t crack the top 10 among Chiefs players, according to Spotrac.
Mahomes’ counterpart, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, ranked third among his team’s highest-paid players for the 2019 season. The two highest-paid players on both the 49ers and the Chiefs play on the defensive side of the ball.
