FBI Director Comey Defends Agency's Investigation of Orlando Shooter
During a press conference early Monday afternoon, FBI Director James Comey discussed the details of the agency’s investigation into the Orlando nightclub shooting, prior surveillance of the perpetrator and what’s next for the FBI as its agents search for clues that were a part of the tragedy.
“We will continue to look forward in this investigation, and backward,” he said. “We will leave no stone unturned. And we will work all day and all night to understand the path to that terrible night.”
The FBI Director said the work done by the agency is going to be analyzed to see if different measures could have been taken.
“I don’t see anything in reviewing our work that our agents should have done differently, but we’ll look at it in an open and honest way and be transparent about it. Our work is very challenging. We are looking for needles in a nation-wide haystack, but we’re also called upon to figure out which pieces of hay might someday become needles,” he said.
