She left the mortuary business over a decade ago in order to explore her passion for personal finance and travel the world, and since then, Johnson and her husband have built a debt-free lifestyle that has them on a path to retire in their 40's.

Johnson has been a freelance writer at Brides for over three years, covering honeymoon resorts and destinations. Her love of budgeting also led to publishing the debt payoff book, “Zero Down Your Debt: Reclaim Your Income and Build a Life You'll Love.” She is the winner of the 2015 Plutus Award for “Best Contributor/Freelancer for Personal Finance.”
