Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg is engaged
The social media executive confirmed her engagement to Tom Bernthal
Sheryl Sandberg is leaning into a new love.
The Facebook chief operating officer updated followers with her new relationship status Tuesday, confirming she was engaged to boyfriend Tom Bernthal, who is the founder and chief executive officer of Los Angeles-based consulting agency Kelton Global.
“Engaged!!! Tom Bernthal, you are my everything. I could not love you more,” Sandberg, 50, said in a Facebook and Instagram post.
Sandberg said yes after a hike and picnic at Vermejo Park Ranch when Bernthal asked the mother of two to be his wife with a ring featuring five diamonds to represent each of their five children, People reported. Sandberg and Bernthal have been dating since last spring after the duo was introduced by Sandberg's former brother-in-law Rob Goldberg. Before founding Kelton Global, Bernthal worked in the Clinton White House and was a producer for NBC News where he won an Emmy Award.

The engagement comes nearly five years after the death of Sandberg’s husband, Dave Goldberg, the chief executive of SurveyMonkey, who died suddenly from head trauma at 48. Sandberg wrote the book “Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, Finding Joy,” which came out in 2017 about coping and moving forward after her own experience with grief and loss, featuring stories from people who overcame personal and professional hardships and trauma.
