Top 10 least physically active US cities
More than 33% of Gadsen, Ala., residents do not exercise
While the number of Americans getting the average federally recommended amount of exercise per week is rising nationally, certain cities in the U.S. are still not meeting the advised guidelines.
But, according to a study conducted by 24/7 Tempo, part of media company 24/7 Wall St., about 22 percent of American adults report not being physically active while, in 2017, 25 percent met the national requirement of 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise per week.
The study revealed America’s least active cities based on factors like physical activity, access to workout facilities and obesity and diabetes rates. Data for the study was gathered from the 2019 County Health Rankings and Roadmaps (CHR) report, including all 381 American metro areas.

The U.S. average of adults in poor or fair health is 16 percent and adult obesity is 28.5 percent. The average for people with access to gyms and exercise facilities is 83.9 percent.

10. Elizabethtown-Fort Knox, Kentucky
