Zoom bombers hack New York City Council event with porn

The NSFW smut popped up in a press conference as they touted new legislation that protects healthcare workers from discrimination.

A virtual event held by New York City council members Thursday morning quickly turned X-rated — when Zoom bombers began streaming porn on the virtual call.

The NSFW smut popped up about 20 minutes into a press conference with city council members as they touted new legislation that protects healthcare workers from discrimination.

“There was a bunch of porn put online and we shut it down as quickly as we could,” said one city council official who was tuned into the event.

The lewd material, which was displayed for about a minute or two, included photos and videos of people mid-sex act — leaving participants angry and disgusted, the official said.

Organizers yanked the virtual press conference — and had it back online, sans hackers, about five minutes later.

Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and Helen Rosenthal, the councilwoman who represents the Upper West Side, were among those logged into the virtual event.

They were heralding a new bill that will establish an advisory board to crack down on gender and racial discrimination at health institutions across the Big Apple.

The legislation follows a 2019 federal lawsuit filed by employees at Mount Sinai against Prabhjot Singh, the director of the health system’s Icahn School of Medicine, alleging that he discriminated against them because of their age and gender.

The lawsuit spurred a letter to the Mount Sinai Board of Trustees, signed by nearly 1,000 Mount Sinai staffers and alumni, that demanded a probe into discrimination and bullying at the institution, according to a press release Friday.

So-called Zoom bombings have been a recent issue in New York City and beyond.

In January, pornographic images were splashed on screens during the NYPD’s 102nd Precinct Community Council virtual meeting. About 20 people were logged on at the time.

Hackers also infiltrated a Zoom parents meeting hosted by New Dorp High School in August, displaying porn, swastikas and racial slurs.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, as a historic number of people began working from home and schools took lessons remote, the FBI warned of similar Zoom-bombing scenarios.

The agency’s suggestions included making meetings private and not sharing links to videos on social media.
