Real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid's Bel Air mega mansion in legal limbo
Hadid has since appealed the order and plans to complete construction for less than $15 million
Luxury real estate designer Mohamed Hadid and his supermodel daughters Bella and Gigi may have made it big, but one of his recent Los Angeles projects hasn't quite caught up.
Hadid, known for multimillion-dollar real estate projects, received a court order to tear down an under-construction mansion, dubbed the "Starship Enterprise," in the ritzy Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles after neighbors complained. In 2017, they filed a lawsuit against Mohamed Hadid alleging that the building, set atop a hill, will crumble onto their homes below.

After the ruling ordered Hadid to demolish the unfinished mansion, the technical owners of the property, his limited-liability company, filed for bankruptcy protection, which has since been dismissed.

But Hadid doesn’t plan for his project to go down so easy. Hadid's attorney Bruce Rudman told FOX Business' Robert Gray that Hadid appealed the court's order for demolition and plans to complete construction for less than $15 million. The re-build has been approved by an architect and structural engineer.
Rudman is arguing Hadid can afford to finance the home’s construction, but not demolition. Rudman said Hadid has already put $50 million into the construction of the home, of which $28 million is in loans.

Hadid is now countersuing neighbors for unfounded allegations against the bribery of city officials to overlook code violations.
