Tesla CEO Elon Musk posts Twitter poll: Gigafactory in Texas?

A majority of Twitter users have voted in favor of a Texas Gigafactory

Tesla founder Elon Musk posted a Twitter poll on Tuesday asking if people want a "Gigafactory" -- a Tesla production plant -- in Texas.

The popular electric carmaker currently has Gigafactories in Storey County, Nevada; Buffalo, New York; and Shanghai, China.

A majority of Twitter users have voted in favor of a Texas Gigafactory so far.

One account dedicated to Tesla owners in North Texas touted in a reply to the tweet Texas' large amount of space and sunlight to offer the electric auto manufacturer.

The electric-vehicle maker’s enterprise value, or market capitalization plus cash and debt, topped Ford’s on Tuesday for the first time. It surpassed General Motors’ on Jan. 31.

Tesla shares were lower in premarket trade on Wednesday. Its market cap, which doesn't include debt and cash, was $159.9 billion; it became bigger than Ford and GM’s combined on Jan. 9.

Tesla’s enterprise value zoomed to $173.7 billion on Tuesday as its shares surged by more than 20 percent. The iconic American automakers Ford ($154.7 billion) and General Motors ($130.8 billion) were left in its dust.

Tesla shares rose 112 percent year to date, while Ford and General Motors fell 1.3 percent and 6 percent, respectively.
